The search is on for the next National Chef of Wales 2027, and applications are now open!

This is your opportunity to put your culinary skills, creativity and passion for Welsh food and produce to the test as you compete against some of the finest chefs in Wales. With the prestigious title of National Chef of Wales 2027 at stake, the competition promises to be an exciting showcase of talent, skill and culinary excellence.

The competition takes place on Wednesday 20th January 2027, at the Castell Howell Trade Show, ICC Wales, when successful applicants will battle it out in the kitchen for the honour of being crowned the very best.

Who Can Enter?

The competition is open to all chefs aged 24 or over on 20th January 2027 who meet one of the following criteria:

• Be of Welsh descent; or
• Be currently working in Wales; or
• Be studying towards a catering qualification in Wales.

Whether you are an experienced competition chef or ready to take on your first major culinary challenge, this is your chance to showcase what you can do on a national stage.

How to Enter

To apply, chefs must complete the official National Chef of Wales 2027 application form below.

As part of your application, you will need to submit your proposed competition menu, including each course and its recipe for four people, in the space provided on the official form.

Your application should give the judges an insight into your culinary style, creativity and approach to food, so make every dish count.

Applications must be submitted by midnight on 30th November 2026.

The Competition

The successful finalists will go head-to-head on 20th January 2027, putting their culinary skills, creativity, precision and presentation to the test.

It will be a day of pressure, passion and exceptional cooking as chefs battle it out for the coveted title, times are subject to change depending on the number of heats required.

The standard will be high, the competition will be fierce and only one chef will emerge as National Chef of Wales 2027.
